Counselling & Psychotherapy
What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling and psychotherapy are both forms of talking therapy which share many similarities. I see counselling as typically shorter term and focused on specific goals. Psychotherapy is often longer term work at a deeper level, exploring our ways of being in the world, and working with difficult past experiences.
How can therapy help?
Working with a qualified practitioner in a safe and confidential space can help us to:
-
Feel truly heard, accepted, and understood
-
Explore parts of ourselves too painful to reach before, or possibly not yet discovered within us
-
Nurture self compassion
-
Expand and evolve our way of being in the world. What this looks like is unique to each individual.

Therapy sessions are confidential apart from matters concerning safety and professional requirements. I am in regular professional supervision where I discuss my work annonymously. I adhere to the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice in all that I do (click here for more information on ethics).
